So, it's been a LONG time since I've done one of these. Given the fact that I've been uploading a lot more recently, I figured I'd put this up here to answer a few questions people have asked me about drawing/working with people.

1: Do You do Requests/Art Trades/Commissions?

- I do NOT do any of these at present. My skills as an artist are nowhere near good enough to be what i feel are acceptable to do any of these with other people. I don't believe its right to take on such work when I know my result will be far less quality than the person working with me.

2: If you don't do requests, why do you have personally-drawn work in your Gallery?

- The few pieces of work that I've done in my Gallery are 'Thank You' gifts to people that I've worked with on DA in various capacities. ALL of these are drawn using pre-existing shape bases and are more-or-less gifts to those users for allowing me to use their characters.

At the moment, these are probably the only personal drawings that'll I'll be uploading as it's about the only type of work I can guarantee any kind of consistent quality on. I have more of these incoming but it's the only type of personal work I'll be uploading for the time being.

3. Would you draw my OC like the examples in your Gallery?

- Yes and no. At the moment the only people I'm really doing that for is people I've worked with and who have let me use their OCs in the past (If you're someone I've worked with, you'll likely get asked if you'd like one of these at some point). This is NOT meant to sound elitist (As if my skill level would even allow me to pretend that lol).

Its primarily that since I've worked with these users I have a good feeling on how to portray their characters and feel like I'm able to do justice to their designs. I dont want to have someone ask 'Make my OC look like a Ninja' because I dont want to wind up making a bland interpretation of someone's OC because I dont know a lot about the character. The other reason is that I dont have a lot of time to do these, and if I took on even three or four at a time it could be a long chunk of time before I could crank them out.

4. Can I post your pieces to my Gallery if my OC is in them?

- I actually had someone ask me about this once for a piece I never posted. If it's your character, the art is yours as much as mine since it wouldnt be possible if you didn't give me permission. I assume most people reading this likely feel that way already but as it has come up once I figured I'd answer it.

5. Can I use your OCs in my pictures/stories?

-This is the least important question on the list, but I've had a few people ask. I'm fine with people using my OCs in stories and pictures. Honestly, I'm quite flattered a couple of people have asked about it. The only limits I have are no blood/gore, nudity or other things that could be considered 'dark/edgy'. As long as its kept to light-hearted/Saturday Morning Cartoon type stuff it's all good. If youd like to do something a bit more beyond those limits please ask me first, I may or ma not be okay with it depending on the context. If you do use them please just let me know so I'm aware.

Thanks for reading my update. I'll have more pieces coming soon :)

Since my last journal I've been a little busy around here, checking around and seeing if people did requests or commissions and how to pay for them.  I found out a lot of people use paypal which I didn't have access to.  Despite this, I checked to see if any of them were able to take any other kind of payment.  Alas, many of them were not, but they were VERY polite about it.  Firedragonkaryu in particular went out of his way to help explain why other payment methods wouldn't work and how I could get around a certain snafu if I chose to get a Paypal.  Other artists were very kind as well, explaining thier payment methods or stating the reasons they choose not to do commissions or trades.

While I was somewhat deflated to find out I have to figure out a way around my Paypal issue, I take solace in the fact that these artists are willing to go out of their way to answer my questions and help me figure out how things work around here.  My problem has boiled down to an obstacle on my end that I will hopefully be able to correct.

But I've noticed that other people aren't getting the message that you need to be polite about these things.  I saw Raver1357's page and a couple of people seem really antsy about the requests they made of him.  They want thier request NOW and want to know about it NOW even though they state in their messages that they know Raver's very busy with the requests.

If you want to know something like that, send one, very polite and very quick, note privately and ask the artist about a possible delivery time (Don't spam his messages on the profile page, it'll make you look like a hack)

Again, thanks to everyone for their help and I hope to be more active in the
near future.

On a completely unrelated note, for anyone who's a fan of DragonballZ, check out www.teamfourstar.com and see their SUPERB parody DBZ series.  For anyone who has fond memories of watching DBZ as a kid...your memories will be crapped on, mutilated and spit out, and you will LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

I've been around deviantart for around a year now (Not necessarily an active member, just around) and I've noticed something worth pointing out.  I notice a lot of people (Myself included) make requests of other artists about artwork.  One thing I think people need to remember is that when we make requests we're asking another individual to take their time and energy and do something for us.  In many cases, such as mine, we make a request because it's something that we're not able to do ourselves (or do nearly as well).  I read GrouchoM's journal about giving up requests and I've realized there's a lot of people who have to deal with this.

When we make requests, be respectful about it.  If you absolutely must know when a request will (Should) be ready, ask about it when you make the request then LET THE ARTIST WORK.  It's okay to check in about it every now and then (Like two or three weeks) or if you haven't heard anything for months, but PLEASE don't harass the person over and over again.

I made a request to Bad-Remedy a couple of days ago and, though I'd love to see it done quickly, I have to wait my turn like everyone else.  And like everyone else I understand the urge to want to see the finished project.  But it's not that hard to act against the urge, especially when you have to get on a computer and type a message to harrass the person.

Just remember, Request means REQUEST, and hopefully you'll have better luck getting one when you think of it that way.

Raditz:  Oh, you're not Goku, my bad.
Piccolo:  I have green-skin, pointy-ears and a turban.  Yeah, I must look like SO many other people you know.
Raditz:  ...smart-ass.
